Continuing Studies Graduates Enjoy Festive Ceremony

On September 21, the School of Professional Education and Continuing Studies (SPECS) held a joint graduation ceremony for all students who completed courses at the school throughout the 2013 academic year. Aiming to avoid the heavy emotions and tearful farewells of traditional graduations, SPECS came up with some fresh ideas to organize a more festive ceremony under the theme "Holding Your Hand, Supporting Your Back."

Among the novel features of the ceremony was the screening of a video featuring the graduates together with the SPECS faculty and staff. Filmed prior to the ceremony, the video, "Supporting Your Back," helped the students express their gratitude for the support they received during their studies at SPECS. Also featured in the event was the live performance of a song composed especially for the graduation. Composed and performed by members of the NTU Melody and Lyric Club, the warm and cheerful song "Holding Hands" represented the graduates' determination to pursue their dreams and complete their studies.

Speaking at the ceremony, NTU President Pan-Chyr Yang stated, "Since my first visit to SPECS after taking office, I have noticed that the school has proactively pursued cooperation opportunities with businesses in utilizing resources both on and off campus to devise education and training programs that meet the needs of the business community. Therefore, it can be said that SPECS serves as a platform for communication between NTU, the business community, the government, and professionals who wish to pursue further education." In response, SPECS Director Hsien-hsing Liao expressed his profound gratitude for the enormous support the university has provided to the school.

The ceremony was also an opportunity to present awards to businesses that have made exceptional contributions in the promotion of educational training programs. The school presented its Business Organization Learning Excellence Award to four enterprises: Lite-On Technology Corp., Ta Ya Electric Wire and Cable Co., Pegatron Corp., and CompuPack Technology Co. In addition, the Business Education Sustainable Growth Award was awarded to Zhen Ding Technology Holding Limited.
