This year, the Ministry of Education (MOE) Teaching Practice Research Program honored four esteemed NTU professors for their outstanding contributions to educational practice and research, acknowledging their crucial role in shaping student’s learning experiences. Let's delve into their award-winning projects:

Associate Prof. Hsiao-Han Chao, Department of Athletics, Center for General Education, applies “The Effect of Applying Virtual Reality Teaching in Tennis Skills Improvement” to integrate virtual reality technology into tennis instruction-- and revolutionize the students’ learning experience. The VR technology offers the students immersive scenarios to refine their tennis skills, thereby transcending traditional technical constraints and forging a new frontier in physical education.

Assistant Prof. Wei-Yan Li, Academic Writing Education Center, offers “Reading to Connect: Adding Meaning to Reading,” with a team of talented instructors. Employing a Task-Based Blended Learning (TBBL) approach, the instructors enrich the students’ critical thinking and reading proficiency in large English reading classes through online pre-class reviews and interactive in-class simulations, fostering a deep connection between learning and real-world contexts.

Associate Prof. Chieh-Chih Hou, Department of Chinese Literature, navigates “Multiple Applications of STAD in the International Philosophy Program – Field of Practice for Neo-Confucianism of the Song and Ming Dynasties.” Utilizing the Student Teams-Achievement Divisions (STAD) method, Prof. Hou facilitates collaboration and cross-cultural understanding among students and provides a dynamic platform for exploring Neo-Confucian philosophy.

Prof. Helen Kang-Huey Liu, Department of Political Science, pioneers “Creating and Testing Effective Studio Learning: Solutions to NPO’s Challenges.” This innovative approach connects students with non-profit organizations grappling with digital transformation dilemmas, fostering international engagement and equipping students with practical problem-solving skills through limited interviews and remote communication tools.
