Hearty congratulations to the five NTU faculty members elected as Academia Sinica Academicians in the 35th election.
Academia Sinica announced the election of its 35th class of Academicians on July 9. Five current National Taiwan University (NTU) faculty members were among the 19 newly elected recipients of Taiwan's highest academic honor.
The newly elected NTU faculty members are:
- Wen-Ching Li, Distinguished Scholar, National Center for Theoretical Sciences (Mathematics Division) (Mathematical and Physical Sciences)
- Yu-Ju Chen, Jointly Appointed Professor, Department of Chemistry (Mathematical and Physical Sciences)
- Tei-Wei Kuo, Professor Emeritus, Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (Engineering Sciences)
- Ruey-Hwa Chen, Jointly Appointed Professor, Institute of Biochemical Sciences, College of Life Science, and Graduate Institute of Molecular Medicine, College of Medicine (Life Sciences)
- Chien-Liang Lee, Jointly Appointed Professor, College of Law (Humanities and Social Sciences)
NTU extends its heartiest congratulations to these distinguished scholars in recognition of their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to research. Their election is a source of great pride for the entire NTU community.
This year's newly elected Academicians also include several NTU alumni: Wen-Ching Li, Kuo-Feng Ma, Yu-Ju Chen, Tei-Wei Kuo, Cheng-Shan Kuo, Ching-Hwa Sung, Ruey-Hwa Chen, Hsiao-ti Lee, and Kuan-Chung Huang. In addition to being an NTU alumnus, Hsiao-ti Lee also previously served as an adjunct professor in NTU's Department of History.
Election as an Academician of Academia Sinica is a lifetime honor and represents Taiwan's highest academic distinction. Academicians are elected through a rigorous process conducted in accordance with the Regulations for the Election of Academia Sinica Academicians, including multiple rounds of review, careful evaluations, and final voting by the full body of Academia Sinica Academicians during the Convocation of Academia Sinica.
