The School of Veterinary Medicine held the Veterinary Education Development Donation Appreciation Ceremony and the Whispers of Bone: Veterinary Anatomy Gallery Unveiling Ceremony on June 11. The event celebrated the generous support of the Chen-Yung Foundation, which donated a three-dimensional anatomy teaching platform and a life-sized pregnant mare simulator. Additional matching support from the College of Bioresources and Agriculture, together with generous contributions from alumni, which made possible the renovation of the entrance hall of the School's First Building and the creation of the Whisper of Bone Gallery.
The gallery was unveiled by Professor Yu-Pin Lin, Dean of the College of Bioresources and Agriculture; Mr. Charles C. Y. Chen, Chairman of the Chen-Yung Foundation; and other distinguished guests. Professor Bi-Ling Su, Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine, expressed the School's heartfelt appreciation. Faculty members, alumni, and guests gathered together to celebrate a renewed educational space that reflects the School's enduring commitment to educational innovation, clinical excellence, and the cultivation of future veterinary professionals.
The newly installed 3D anatomy teaching platform enables students to explore animal organs, blood vessels, nerves, and tissues through interactive three-dimensional visualization, strengthening spatial understanding and enriching anatomy education. Complementing this resource, the life-sized pregnant mare simulator provides a realistic and repeatable environment for practicing large-animal obstetric procedures and clinical skills, allowing students to build their confidence and competence before entering real clinical settings.
The Whispers of Bone gallery has transformed the former entrance hall into an intriguing educational space where skeletal specimens and teaching models are thoughtfully displayed through lighting, exhibition design, and interpretation. Once valued primarily as teaching materials, these collections now also stand as enduring witnesses to the history of veterinary education and the transmission of professional knowledge across generations.
By integrating digital technology, simulation-based learning, and anatomical collections, the project represents more than the technical enhancement of teaching facilities. It embodies the School's commitment to academic excellence, respect for life, animal welfare, and the professional values that define veterinary medicine. With the collective support of the Foundation, the College, and its alumni, NTU continues to advance veterinary education through innovation, compassion, and a forward-looking vision.
