Leaders of the partner universities unveil the Trilateral Center plaque.
NTU President Wen-Chang Chen, Kyushu University President Tatsuro Ishibashi, and Chancellor Robert Jones, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on February 19 -- and unveiled the Trilateral Center. In particular, the three institutions intend to systematically develop and promote faculty and student exchange programs as well as scientific research cooperation in medicine, engineering, agriculture, humanities, and social sciences.
Kyushu University and UIUC are both significant key partner schools of NTU, with active exchange programs and joint degree programs. In 2019, Kyushu University and UIUC also signed a bilateral key partner school agreement to further consolidate their partnership. In an effort to expand and deepen their trilateral cooperation, the three institutions decided to establish a center, aimed to institutionalize their current cooperation activities and integrate their expertise, particularly in medicine, engineering, the humanities, social studies, and agriculture. The center will also be aimed to systematically develop and promote the following programs: 1. Matchmaking activities for research cooperation through online and/or in-person meetings; 2. Exchange programs for faculty, students and staff; 3. Joint courses; 4. Joint degree programs; 5. Workshops and seminars; 6. Collaboration projects such as joint research and publications.
NTU looks forward to further exchanges and collaborations among the three universities, mainly through joint projects, knowledge sharing in various fields, building an extensive platform for mutual learning, as well as hosting exchanges among partner faculty and students.
