National Taiwan University (NTU) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the Czech Republic on July 22, marking a significant step forward in Taiwan–Czech academic collaboration. The visit was a highlight of the 2025 Taiwan–Czech Higher Education Forum, co-organized by the Czech National Agency for International Education and Research and the Foundation for International Cooperation in Higher Education of Taiwan.
Led by Director Michal Uhl, the 37-member delegation represented 17 leading Czech universities, including rectors, vice presidents, and senior administrators. Many hailed from NTU’s current partner institutions and from members of the University Academic Alliance in Taiwan.
The day began with a high-level strategic meeting between the Czech delegation and NTU leadership, including President Wen-Chang Chen, Vice President for Research and Development Chung-Chih Wu, and Associate Vice President for International Affairs Jiun-Haw Lee. Discussions reviewed the successes of existing partnerships and identified new opportunities for collaboration in research, teaching, and student exchange.
Following the meeting, the delegates participated in targeted matchmaking sessions with the Colleges of Engineering, Social Sciences, and Liberal Arts, where concrete initiatives for college-level cooperation took shape. The visit concluded with a luncheon at the New Moon Pavilion, fostering warm personal connections and fruitful academic exchanges.
NTU’s partnership with Czech institutions is already supported by a strong record of joint initiatives, including internship and traineeship exchanges under the NTU Beyond Borders program and the participation of Czech students in the MOFA–NTU Taiwan–Europe Semiconductor Training Program. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration in student mobility, dual degrees, faculty exchanges, and joint research—further cementing the Taiwan–Czech higher education alliance and amplifying their shared influence on the global academic stage.
