National Taiwan University (NTU) proudly marked the successful conclusion of its 2025 Huayu BEST Program and UAAT Mandarin Program in the first half of the year, celebrating the achievements of 43 international students from partner universities worldwide. These flagship initiatives offered participants not only intensive Mandarin training, but also an immersive introduction to the richness of Taiwanese culture.

The Huayu BEST Program welcomed 37 students from nine prestigious institutions: Cornell University, Indiana University, Temple University, The University of Texas at Austin, The University of St. Andrews, Washington University in St. Louis, Michigan State University, The University of Oslo, and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Through the UAAT Mandarin Program, six students from the Czech Republic—representing Charles University, Masaryk University, and Palacký University—joined the NTU community. All participants undertook rigorous language study at NTU’s renowned International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) and Chinese Language Division (CLD).

Beyond the classroom, the programs showcased Taiwan’s vibrant heritage through a curated series of cultural excursions: engaging with local students at five elementary schools, exploring traditional farming in Sanxing, touring the historic Air Force Village in Sanchong, and experiencing Atayal tribal culture in Yilan.

The programs culminated in a warm and memorable farewell ceremony, where students delivered speeches in Mandarin and received their certificates of completion. The event not only celebrated their linguistic progress, but also the friendships and cross-cultural understanding forged over the semester.

NTU extends heartfelt thanks to all participants for contributing to this meaningful cultural exchange and looks forward to welcoming them back to Taiwan—this time as lifelong ambassadors for Mandarin language and Taiwanese culture.
